Preachers talk a lot about the purpose of life. I have heard them saying “We should become like Jesus”. Is that true? And most frequently they say that there is a common purpose of life for all Christians. That common purpose that they say is taking the gospel to the ends of the world. So, they say that if we don’t take part in that common purpose, “gospel plan” we don’t satisfy the purpose of God. Because, if we don’t satisfy the plan, they say that we get frustrated and moreover, preachers say that Holy Spirit leads us to fulfill the purpose of God ie, to share the Gospel. It seems that we must have open doors for Gospel; meaning, we should keep our doors in our house open for the purpose of God ie, to share the gospel by conducting prayer meetings and so on.
Are these statements true according to the Bible?
Is there a common purpose first of all?
Jesus asked specifically His disciples to come to Galilee when He was about to be taken to Heaven. There He told them (only His disciples) to go and make disciples of all the nations baptizing and teaching them all His commandments.
Matthew 28:16 (NKJV)
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them.
Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV)
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Now, my question is …
Why Jesus did not ask everyone to come to Galilee?
Why Jesus did not choose a place to be taken away where people are?
Why Jesus did not go into the clouds when He was with the crowds?
Why did He purposely asked only His disciples to come to Galilee and told them to take the Gospel to the ends of the world?
Why He didn’t say this to everyone?
Don’t you think that He did this purposely?
I tell you that He did it purposely because He wanted only a few chosen to carry the Gospel. Others have other roles of supporting the Gospel by funding. Please read my article on God’s Work to understand our role in ministry. So, I say that God did not give a common purpose to all Christians. This type of preaching has put the good Christians from growing in their professions.
This might seem mind-boggling and very difficult to accept. But, please continue on this topic, by reading my article on God’s Work.
